Meet Capi & Hilary - February's Pets Of The Month

Vanna Capi & Hilary

Capi and Hilary aren’t even siblings, but they are nearly the same age. They have grown up together, along with Hilary’s sisters Bunny and Cinders.

Capi is a sweet, affectionate lap boy who was found alone on the grounds of the state capitol where he had to have been abandoned by some uncaring human.

Hilary and the girls are the daughters of a golf course mama who had litter after litter until a good Samaritan spayed her and sent her back to live in the groundskeeper’s shop.

The tiny yellow fluffs have grown into outgoing, playful, purrful kittens. All are now about 7 months old, fully vetted including microchips and ready to find their forever homes.

Contact Silver Rescue at silverrescue@gmail.com or visit the website at www.silverrescue.org to see them and other adoptable dogs and cats.

Meet Vanna - January's Pet Of The Month

Vanna Vanna

If your New Year’s resolution includes being healthier and happier, consider bringing Vanna in as you’re life coach. She will ensure you get out for walks regularly and you can’t help but smile when you look at her. Vanna is so smart; when she looks in your eyes you can tell she knows what you are thinking, and you can’t help but think "what a precious soul… Ok we'll go for a walk".

She is about 2 years old. She has good manners - even when she’s excited to meet you she still keeps all paws on the ground! She knows "sit", "stay", "down" (lay), and even "roll over", which she was SO pleased to show us! She’s VERY eager to please! As if to say "I promise I'll be a good girl, if I can be your BFF".

She is currently dog selective, so she would do best in a home as the only pet or with a male of similar size and energy level. If you are ready for a loyal life coach that will be ready to start each day anew with you, consider Vanna for the job.

If you are interested in meeting Vanna, please email info@nashvillepittie.org.

Meet Grace - December's Pet Of The Month

Grace Grace

Nice to meet you! My name is Grace, but my foster mom calls me Gracie. I’m around 3 years old and I am the biggest sweetheart you’ve ever met, once you get to know me.

I was found wandering the streets of Mt. Juliet, TN, where my mom and my siblings had been hit by cars. My foster parents have shown me what love and security are all about, though it takes me a tad bit longer to trust strangers. I have lots of personality that I love sharing with my new foster family, and I love playing with my dog brother Jax. I am learning all about the noises of a living inside a house and everyday I get more and more comfortable with my new surroundings. I am also learning “sit,” “down,” and “wait”. I would love to be adopted by a family with another dog!

If you are interested in meeting me, please contact info@agaperescue.org or call 615-406-7799. I'll be right here, waiting to meet you!

Meet Miss D - November's Pet Of The Month

Miss D Miss D

Wow, am I pretty... I mean, just look at my picture! I'm a goddess! If you'd like to gaze upon me forever, contact my foster mom!

You may have noticed the green heart beside my picture indicating that I am a special needs kitty. This is because I am FIV+. FIV stands for feline immune deficiency virus, which is a big way of saying that my immune system is weaker than that of other cats. As long as I am kept indoors, fed good food, and taken to the vet once a year for a check-up (same as any other cat), I will live just as long as any other kitty!

For details on adopting Miss D, contact Nashville Cat Rescue: loveallcats3@hotmail.com

Meet Rosalee - October's Pet Of The Month

Rosalee Rosalee

Meet Rosalee. She is about 2 years old, smart, affectionate, loves people, kids, and other animals. She and her companion Raphael were rescued last summer after the flood. They had been chained and abandoned behind a ruined house... they were there for nearly 3 months.

Rosalee is a gorgeous, social girl; house-trained, crate-trained, and has lovely manners (she has also been professionally trained by Joe Simmons). She has a stunning personality, and would be a wonderful companion for anyone. She is an American Bulldog, possibly mixed with Dogo Argentino.

For more details on Rosalee, e-mail lauralove1464@gmail.com

Meet Kaylee - September's Pet Of The Month

Kaylee Kaylee

Kaylee was originally called into Dogs Deserve Better after concerned neighbors saw the the awful state in which she was living. On MITS Day, volunteers erected a tarp shelter for her and provided a new water bucket, toys and treats. We also educated her owner to the hazards posed by Kaylee living outdoors.

We went back to check on her two weeks ago and learned that her owner had decided he could no longer keep her. Kaylee was surrendered to MTPRC on the spot. With no immediate place for her to go, we set off with Kaylee in tow and began searching a safe place for her. Due to lack of available fosters, a kind volunteer offered to let her live in his outside kennel while we worked on finding her an inside long term foster of forever home. Kaylee now has an inside foster home but is looking for her own forever home.

Kaylee is approx. 1 year old; she is spayed, up to date on all her shots, and Heartworm Negative. She is really great with other dogs; very playful, and has lots of energy. Be sure to check out Kaylee's video on our home page!

Kaylee will be adopted as an inside dog with outside privileges. If you or someone you know would be interested in adopting Kaylee, e-mail kaylee@mtprc.org for more information.

Meet Oliver - August's Pet Of The Month

Oliver Oliver

Someone poured motor oil on me, so I got a kitty crewcut. I admit I looked a little funny for a while, but my fur is growing back out very nicely. It won't be long before I am back to my usual handsome self!

I am a very playful and affectionate boy. Please come see me in person at the 100 Oaks PetSmart so you can appreciate what a great cat I am! I have been neutered, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and am up to date on my vaccinations.

Meet Leon - June's Pet Of The Month

Willy Leon

My name is Leon. I was living on my own in a lumber yard. That is no place for a terrific cat like me, so I was very lucky to be rescued by Nashville Cat Rescue. I am now hanging out at the Hermitage PetSmart.

The kind folks at NCR say I am a special needs kitty. This is because I am FIV+. FIV stands for feline immunodeficiency virus, which is a big way of saying that my immune system is weaker than that of other cats. As long as I am kept indoors, fed good food, and taken to the vet once a year for a check-up (same as any other cat), I should live just as long as any other kitty!

It is wonderful to be living indoors and be taken care of by NCR's great staff and volunteers. Its like a dream come true that I no longer need to worry about where my next meal will come from. Life here is great, but I need a new home. How about yours?

If you'd like to make Leon a member of your family, contact Nashville Cat Rescue at loveallcats3@hotmail.com

Meet Willy - May's Pet Of The Month

Willie Willy

Hi everyone! My name is Willy, and I am a cute, laid back Dachshund! I was a little shy when I first arrived in my foster home, but after a few days, I totally came out of my shell and now I love hanging out with my foster mom, brother, and sister!

I’m interested in everything my foster mom does and I love to follow her around to check everything out. Blankets and pillows are my faves to cuddle with. Oh yes... I also LOVE belly rubs. My foster mom gives me the best ones in the morning AND at night! When I’m not exploring my new home or lounging around with my blankets, I love going on walks (I’m very good on a leash!) I don’t like to make a lot of noise, except for when I whine to go potty. I also bark a few times when someone first comes to the house. What a great security system!

Don’t I sound like the perfect dog for you? I am! Please help me find my forever home! I can't wait to meet you! If you’re interested in meeting me, please call 615-406-7799 or email: info@agaperescue.org for more information.

Meet Amigo - April's Pet Of The Month

Amigo Amigo

His “official” name is Amigo, but as the single boy in a litter of sisters, we call him Dude Cat. Maybe that’s why he’s a “sensitive guy” – very sweet, affectionate and full of purrs. He’s also strong, athletic and playful. Dude Cat is about 6 months old and has been in the care of Silver Rescue since he and his sisters were rescued from the street as tiny kittens right before Halloween. Two sisters have gone to their new home but the Dude Cat is still waiting for his. Ideally, he would like to be adopted with his petite sister Beauty, a precious solid black girl, because they have a special loving bond. His shier but more independent sister Flipflop will be fine on her own.

Dude Cat now weighs 6 - 8 lbs and is fully vetted including microchip. He has three white paws – just the toes of his fourth paw was dipped in white fur. His chest and belly are white, and he has the cutest cowlick right where a bowtie would be. He’s all dressed up with nowhere to go – won’t you take him home to be your li’l dude?

See more photos of Amigo and his sisters at www.silverrescue.petfinder.com where you can also request an adoption application.

Meet Shane - March's Pet Of The Month

Shane Shane

Shane caught everyone's attention these past couple of months. This beautiful, pure bred, stunning lab escaped from an awful life on a chain and ended up with no where to go. He is currently being fostered, but in need of a forever home ASAP!

If you are able to foster or adopt or help with boarding, please e-mail llawp@live.com. Visit Shane's page on Petfinder.

Meet Azreal - February's Pet Of The Month

Azreal Azreal

Azreal was originally rescued a year ago along with her brother, Gargamel. She was adopted into a loving home and was living happily with her family. They are no longer able to keep her, so they brought her back so she can find a new home.

They hated to give her up, but they are happy because they know she will be going to a good home. She has been spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on her vaccinations.

E-mail Nashville Cat Rescue for a chance to meet her!

Meet Suby - January's Pet Of The Month

Subie! Subie

Meet Subie (Subaru), an adorable young male lab mix found with his sibling in Beaman Park when they were just 3 months old. He is approximately 9 months old now, and fully vetted. Subie is fun, energetic, and loves people! He has quickly made himself at home with his foster families (currently with 5 other dogs), and happily interacts with all.

He is a high energy puppy, enjoying games played either with his canine friends or his adult family. Subie is very affectionate. He wants to be with the "pack" at all times, especially with the human members of the "pack." He is house trained, knows how to use the doggie door, loves to travel in the car and does well on a leash. Subie is an extraordinary companion and will make a wonderful family member.
See Subie star in his You Tube video!

Meet Valentine - December's Pet Of The Month

Valentine! Valentine

Looking for love? Well, look no further! His name is Valentine because he has a heart shape on his side, and because he loves the ladies! A true romantic like Valentine doesn't like to share his love with other cats, so he would prefer to be the lone fluffball in your home. If you adopt him, every day can be Valentine's Day!

Do you think Valentine is the perfect pet for you? If so, contact webmaster@mtprc.org for more information.

Meet Nikki - October's Pet Of The Month

Nikki!

NEW PHOTOS HERE!

Nikki - The Story of One Dog's Survival

Born on a Farm in rural Tennessee, one of seven pups, Nikki grew up poor and grew up chained. Tethered to a small wooden porch in Nashville TN, the years came and went. Nikki thought nothing would change. Then, one cold winter's day some kind ladies saw her stranded on that porch and reached out to help. Nikki was so happy! She thought her time had finally come to be free as they built a fence made just for her. But there was more heartache to come...

That fateful day in May 2010 as the heavy rains came, Nikki - and her siblings - were left stranded in the flood.

As the waters rose at their home on Pennington Bend, these dogs, which had been saved once before, were once again stranded and without hope. But miraculously, at the last minute, their kind neighbor heard their cries and rushed to save them, paddling in his row boat and taking them safely to dry land.

Thanks to the kind folks at Hairy Moose, Nikki and her sister were safely boarded until their owner could find a place for them all to live. The family ended up moving to a new home with dogs in tow, and a new fenced area was built in which the pups could roam.

Now, however, due to the owner's current financial and physical situation, they feel it would be best for Nikki to become part of a family where regular walks and runs would be part of her everyday life.

Nikki is up to date on her shots, she is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE, and current with Frontline and Heartguard. Nikki is great with other dogs, but not suited for a household with cats. She can shake paws, play soccer and even basketball!!

If you or anyone you know would be interested in adopting Nikki and would like to meet her, please contact us at webmaster@mtprc.org.

Nikki's adoption fee of $70.00 will be donated to Hairy Moose and Nashville Cat Rescue who have worked tirelessly to help her.
