MTPRC Newsletter, July 2010
Hi there,
We hope you had a great July 4th Holiday!
As many of you may remember, The Donelson Fence Project was a huge success in which MTPRC volunteers built a fence for several dogs in Middle Tennessee who spent much of their lives chained. Sadly, the turn of events since that the project was completed have been very sad and difficult. The dogs owner's house on the Cumberland river was completely destroyed in the Nashville flood.
Post flood, MTPRC has worked extensively to help the owner find and the dogs find a new home. THANKFULLY, to the huge help and generosity of Hairy Moose Pet Retreat, The Woof Waggin, Susan Heard and Craig Parnell, this recovery has been made a lot easier. The owner was able to take what remained of the fence to a new property, have it installed there, and on July 3rd, the dogs were finally set up in their new home with the new fence and new dogs houses.
MTPRC would also like to thank the following people who gave generously of their time and resources to help Cuddles, Nikki and Stoney get set up in their new home: Jenna and Joey Krabacher, Kim Kimec, Cooper Witt, Shelley Rutkowski, Carol Smock, Elizabeth Chauncey, Susan Gennoe, Susan Ferraro, Janis Tilton, Heather Davis, Scott Atkinson and Tanya Stephenson. You can see photos and video of the original fence we installed at our web site, by clicking here.
In light of these very warm temperatures that we are experiencing, please remember to keep your pets cool by bringing them inside! AND - if you see an animal in danger due to the weather please contact Metro Animal Care and Control immediately at 615-8692-7928. Never leave your pet in an unattended vehicle in extreme temperatures.
On a positive note, Nashville Cat Rescue did a great job this month, placing almost 70 cats in new homes! Most of them were kittens and cats effected by the flood. Well Done!!
As always, we appreciate your continued support please keep us posted on news and events in Middle Tennessee!
